Hudson Valley Arts and Culture

Hudson Valley arts and culture

Talent of Every Kind

America’s first arts movement started here in 1825, and paintings by the Hudson River School artists can be found in major museums throughout the world. Modern art is well represented with major museums such as Storm King Arts Center and Dia:Beacon, both international destinations. Cultural festivals and various artistic performances speak to the diversity of the region, while art colonies and craft villages offer inside views of skilled artisans at work.

  • The Firemen’s Association of the State of New York (FASNY) provides information, education and training for the volunteer fire and emergency medical services throughout New York State. FASNY strives to recognize the true champions of these services through numerous awards programs. They also recognize educators for their work in fire prevention education. Additionally, FASNY provides legislative representation that monitors and takes action on topics of importance to the services.
FASNY Museum of Firefighting:
The dictionary defines a museum as "a place where important things are preserved: a building or institution where objects of artistic, historical, or scientific importance and value are kept, studied, and put on display.” We, however, think of the FASNY Museum of Firefighting as much more than just that!

We want Museum visitors to explore, discover and learn. We want Museum visitors to be both enlightened and entertained by their visit to the FASNY Museum of Firefighting.

Whether you are a firefighter on a pilgrimage to the Museum for the first time, a family looking for a fascinating daytrip or a student of history whose interest has been piqued by the fire service, we strive to engage you by presenting the subject of firefighting as history, as culture, as a service to humanity, as a preventative practice and as ever-changing art and technology.
